  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am responsible for managing our projects team as well as overseeing a range of projects both internally and externally. I work with customers to improve and maintain relationships through account management visits all over the country. Additionally I have also become a big part of influencing the development roadmap for the organisation.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. Firstly, I now feel confident in managing project that involve multiple stakeholders over a period of several months. For this my communication skills and ability to work under pressure in front of a customer has come on no end. Additionally I now have experience in managing people which is something I had never done before.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the job side of things. I am constantly busy and always have far too much to do which is good for me as I work well under pressure. However, the university side of things has at times felt very slow paced for me and a lot of time is wasted doing activities in class that are not relevant to our assignments and take valuable time away from the working week.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well organised, I get chance to make sure that all of my work within my full time job role is completed and then my study time is taken as and when I need to one day a week. I found this works well for me as my job can go through periods where it is very busy and taking a set day a week is not always doable.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Anything I need from them I can pretty much get. In terms of job help they are always around for any issues I might have and there are multiple people I can draw on for this. I can then get anything that relates to my degree as and when from anyone who might be able to relate work to Uni.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A lot. They offer a lot of online resources to allow me to get all the learning I need as and when I need it. The tutors are very oen to contact which means that I can get in touch to ask any questions as they come up. Overall they are very helpfull.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that it does to a degree. As I am getting more involved in various management practices it means that I am able to apply what I have learned. For example, getting involved in interviewing I have been able to apply things I learned from a theory point of view to offer a different perspective in an interview.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As we are a small organisation, some of us also work from home, meaning that there is not that much chance from a social point of view. However professionally I have attended awards dinners where we have taken home accolades, as well as trade shows to meet prospective customers and pitch our product.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because I feel it is a very good place to work. You are treated fairly and there is a lot of chance to get involved in the things that you want to be involved in. They are a growing organisation and the culture is one of wanting to help each other and push eachother forward.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Inform Billing?
  • Just to be yourself and make sure that you fit with the organisational culture. They will want to make sure that the role is a good fit for both parties. You also need to make sure that you want to work as they will want you to take responsibility and manage your own workloads.
