  • Patients care, taking physical observations, different test, ecg, help with personal hygiene, phlebotomy and cannulation, admitting and discharging patients, escorting patients to theatre, help with nutrition and hydration, escalate any abnormal findings and work independently but under supervision when medicating patients

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Documentation, dispense medication under supervision, practise phlebotomy and cannulation, leading situations, communicate more effectively in regards of patients progress or deterioration

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do feel more empowered by this program, having to use my knowledge and use my own judgement when making decisions, more valuable for my team and knowledgeable as before! Excellent opportunity to progress in to nursing career!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The placements were not quite well organised according to our modules schedule! Also a large part of the line managers and matrons from the trust still don’t know what this new role implies and what is the aim of its implementation which shows not being open to changes!

  • Learning support has been always available and key people happy to help! Regarding other fields like financial which all the cohort felt it hard to cope with, our voice has not been heard!

  • The team can rely on my abilities, knowledge and skills which I achieve during this course.

  • Invited to Annual Healthcare Support Worker event! Invited to a lot off training events!

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Although the remuneration is not great, the learning opportunities are everywhere and they are accessible! Good staff attitude towards working but not that open to changes


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust?
  • Think of good opportunities around you and take them or ask for them! Be incentive and demanding asking questions and information to achieve the most of this experience! Don’t think of the financial aspect now, look for the nearest future and the open doors when finishing the course!
