Assisting the project Quantity Surveyor in daily tasks such as account management , helping with variations, raising orders , site progress , record keeping such as daily allocation time sheets , estimating and building up costs/pricing exercises , attending various workshops internally and externally , helping with the preparation of monthly reports and client meetings.
yes , fundamental principles of M&E services , I have learned the functions of major plant in a building , I have a better understanding of how systems wok together , I have learned how to price a variation / how to build up a cost , how to raise an order , certain parts of the JCT standard contract
I think Imtech is a good place to work with a good team spirit , I do not enjoy the university course at LSBU at all , I find it badly taught and unexciting , I think the course would be better if the uni wasn't involved at all , other then the uni I enjoy working for Imtech as a whole
I would say the course I am studying is not very relevant to M&E quantity surveyors and more for building surveyors , the communication I receive from the uni has not been good , at my previous uni we had booked In time slots with out mentor , also they would respond to our emails promptly which has not been the case with LSBU
My employer is very good at helping me reach my goals set out by this course , I get ample opportunity to ask questions and attend training relevant to my work , apprentice workshops are also run internally which help focus on key areas of learning and provide a platform for the apprentice`s in the company to talk about common issues
as above , we receive plenty of training opportunity's from Imtech for us to help with the 20 percent of the job training , I have a mentor that will help with day to day questions and tasks and we have a apprentice QS manager that runs the monthly workshops which I also attend
at the moment not much at all , the uni course does not apply to my day to day roles and seems more of a annoying distraction from my actual role at the company , I am hoping that in the following years this will change and be more relevant and have more carry over
yes I have attended gym sessions and social events in the last 3 years , we have had Christmas and family days every year which I have attended , we also joined a gym together which we would attend every week , the project will occasionally have team socials some of which I have helped arrange
Yes
Imtech is a very friendly company to be apart of , it has a family orientated environment rewarding loyalty, they focus on wellbeing not just performance/results , most of my colleagues are very helpful and support me in my learning and reaching my targets , the mentorship programme also works well in having someone to guide you through the apprenticeship
just that if you treat others with respect you cant really go wrong here , the systems are in places to support everyone no matter the role and you wont be alienated if you make a mistake as long as you learn from it , if you are an apprentice and you can avoid doing a 5 year course at lSBU then definitely avoid it
