  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role on a day-to-day basis can vary massively and are almost never the same. In my current roles I complete a whole variety of tasks from Contract Status Revies to Contract Closure to Business Partnering taking up the majority of my workload.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Through enrichement, on and off the job training I have developed several new skills and improved exisiting skills. Whether these skills are in Microsoft Excel, proffesional skills or improving my knowledge on the taks I perform in my role - I have received extensive amounts of opportunity to learn.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Yes, there are several things that I enjoy about my programme. The teams I get placed in are always enjoyable, the work I do is always fascinating and the company I work for is great.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The strucutre of the apprenticeship is good - we rotate every 6 months and therefore get receive great amounts of exposure. We are provided with several training opportuinites. As I am in the first cohort there is still some tweaks that coule be made but overall, it is structured very well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We have a great network inplace to support us, from a wide variety of people in the office with varying levels of experience and knowledge. We have scheme leaders; skills coaches; placement managers; mentors and apprenticeship reps that are always accesible no matter the problem.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We are provided with a great deal of support from our training provider, Kaplan. They give us several different documents, in hand, from work notes to revision guides and questions. They also have an online website that has videos on every topics, practice questions and mock exams.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • What we are studying helps us a great amount because its gives us the theory and knowledge that underpins all the work we do. Even if the work is top level, or not, our qualifciation allows us to have that understanding that helps know why we're doing it.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are always extra-curricular activites provided i our workplace that vary by great amounts. There are apprentice counsels (both local and national); sports clubs; finance conferences; stretch assignments and several different social events that, as apprentices, we could get involved in.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel, that in the modern world of working, employees often move from company to company looking for that development or promotional opportunity. However, it is my view that BAE Systems is a company where you can achieve all of that and definitely, work here for life.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Research the company - it is important to show us, as the employer, why we should hire you. However, it is also important to show us why you want to work here. BAE want employees to be passionate about the work we produce and innovation that we are in front of.
