  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a daily basis I support staff and students with technical issues and advice. This includes software and hardware support. I also help manage the network and servers in order to ensure the smooth operation of the daily school time. I also do a lot of remote support using phones and remote assistance tools.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Overall my experience with Whitcliffe Mount School has been alright. It has been a good learning experience and I do not regret this. However, the way students behave and the way that staff are treated is not a place I want to be working at. Instead of the appropriate department deciding what hardware and software to purshase the senior team get advised by a salesman which ends up costing a fortune for things we don't need.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well structured and laid out in a way that is understandable and challenging but easy to flow. One file is not the best platform for submitting work but overall it has been fine for what we needed it for. It was very well done and slotted into my daily work activities without much problem.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive quote a lot of support from my employer. I have no problems with this as they have been exceptionally helpful in this regard. When dealing with health issues they were very supportive and allowed me to attend all appointments and did this without much notice too. Overall I am happy with the support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive quite a lot of support from my training provider and regularly have an assessor visiting us. Although recently this has been reduced for some reason. I do feel as though there could be some improvement regarding late assignments and pushing towards success as other than reviews you are not being checked up on regarding this. However, there has also been some very bad experiences from both me and my friends regarding the training provider. Examples of this include failing to support a disability for extra time in exams. Failure to provide adequate support and information to learners. Piling work on learners at the end instead of spreading it out over time. There has also been a lot of occasions that learners have failed exams as the trainers have not been successful in their teaching and do not teach the right things. On the other hand there is a lot of really knowledgeable people at ti's provider and they should be praised. Overall I wouldn't use or recommend this training provider again but I hope this improves going forward.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualifications definitely help with my job role. They gave us professional qualifications from CompTIA qualifications and this has helped me to progress in my role and allowed me to further develop my skills and expertise in the field. I have also gained extensive experience with various technologies and services including various projects from the training courses

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there is extra cirricular activities available because it a school we have a lot of sports activities and teams to participate in. We also have staff nights out and celebrations for special occasions. We also have an end of year celebration for when the students break up and the school term is over

  • 9a. Would you recommend Whitcliffe Mount School to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • The reason I would not recommend this company at this moment in time is because management are too heavily involved with job roles that they shouldn't. For example in ICT the equpement we end up with is not decided by ICT Support and is instead decided by management. For this reason I think it is stupid to recommend anyone this company as they would get as stressed out as everyone else working there. They also cannot control the kids and are severely on the decline in terms of behaviour and management.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitcliffe Mount School?
  • If you are applying for a role at this company be advised that a lot of the time stagg are piled on with more work and no change in pay. Do not allow this to happen as you are not required to do this. If they do not accept that then move elsewhere as this is not an acceptable practice.
