  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a maintenance apprentice this involves carrying out PM (Preventative maintenance) activities on the packing line. Whenever a breakdown occurs I'm involved in repairing the line to get it running with minimum downtime but also looking at preventing it reoccurring.

  • I've developed a variety of new skills such as machining and welding which are practical skills. I'm currently studying my HNC and making progress to completing my Level 3 NVQ.

  • I am enjoying the responsibility of working on the lines and helping towards improving performance.

  • Other than the qualifications, the learning is down to the individuals when in the workplace.

  • My engineering manager provides me with support whenever I need help getting certain criteria done for my NVQ.

  • My engineering manager provides me with support whenever I need help getting certain criteria done for my NVQ.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • All of the work done in the NVQ is relevant to the workplace as it is evidence I've gathered from the jobs I've done. In the HNC you can relate a lot of it to the workplace in the assignments.

  • No.
