  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Colleague Transformation Manager Providing tools and support to colleagues to provide excellent customer experience. Specifically focus currently on Knowledge and Wellbeing. Mangaging stakeholders internally and externally. Influencing training and development of new to bank new to role colleagues. My role enables me to think strategically and creatively about the future of Barclays and demands of changing regulatory and customer expectations

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • yes self insight and learning style in particular have been very useful. I have enjoyed time looking at theory of leadership styles and marketing in particular. the diagnostics have been useful in exploring current and perceived preferences. virtual working in groups has been an interesting exercise in exploring the roles of other delegates

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying the experience of learning again and developing my breadth of knowledge. this is also a great experience to meet colleagues across a wide number of roles within Barclays. the opportunity to further my formal education has been an excellent experience so far and the structure of the programme works well for me.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programe itself is well organised . Communication is a challenge however as the firewalls within Barclays present challenges as i am unable to access some material and information sent by ARU is oftens blocked and not received. As a result some information about study blocks has been missed or late

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My line manager has been supportive however my workload has remained the same as before i started the programme. he is supportive of me using time for study days but this has to fit in around work demands. Study blocks are well supported and i have always been able to achieve attending these.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • tutors have been very supportive and feedback is always available. The study block sessions have been very useful and informative providing good level of guidance. Tutor support for assignments is excellent and feedback in marked assignments is comprehensive and supportive with plenty of pointers for improvement. It's useful to have a variety of tutor styles .

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • very relevant to my day job and will undoubtedly help me to be more effective in my role the learning has provided credible methods and theory to challenge current ways of thinking and enabled me to challenge current processes and thinking in the workplace with positive impact on my overall performance

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • none that i am involved in however i am aware of the need to become more involved as i develop through the programme in terms of networking and stakeholder management so will be exploring opportunities available to me locally to fulfil this. I have not been made aware of anything and will need to proactively seek these out for myself

  • Yes

  • good opportunities and supportive culture as an organisation Barclays is very focussed upon colleague development and wellbeing and is supportive of flexible working i have over my 30 years with Barclays had some excellent opportunities to develop and grow whist still having the flexibility to bring up a family and create the right balance


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • make the most of the opportunities that are presented and take personal responsibility for your learning and development the learning is availalbe to all and there is not an age limit on being part of an apprentice programme. i was apprehensive about this initially but now i am part of a programme this is not an issue
