  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I have joined Barclays as an apprentice but my role is development I am in Wealth digital department so currently I am working on ROLB, Initially I gain knowledge in java by self learning and creating various projects a mentor was assign he used to give task on daily basis. So in ROLB I code in java language. Work on JIRA cards analyze the code understand problem, code in java using IDE then push my code in Git and deploy it on Jenkins, hence to test it and move my code forward so that it can go for further process for Live. I have my interaction with my lead for updates and task related queries daily on Skype, web ex and emails. as he sits on different location. And I am involved with apprentice program activities andI have given my individual presentation and then I have participate in Micro-tyco event i.e raising funds for charity it was for a particular duration so we did some activities from that we gathered money (activities like - food stall, making handicraft and selling in the office) and send that money to charity. Now preparing for group presentation. Apart from these role I do management work as well like creating Weekly status reports getting updates from leads, creating navigator task, working on EO and other task which my line manager assigns. And I participate in various CSR activities as well like water foundation, river cleaning, sports meet for special children (went there to volunteer), Volunteered for career guidance and other office event activities.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I knew java language, but here I am working on and that I developed even more deeply. Like how to code for big projects, analyze the problems find solutions. Meet deadlines on time. I am new to this office environment so learnt every thing which adhere to environment. Adapt Barclays Values. Learning new things, technically and management related.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Apprentice program is the initial step of my job, I have enjoyed a lot. I had my 1 to 1 with my career coach she used to make me understand about this program how can I reach further so that I can move on next level and how much I have to work hard for going forward for next level. Gave individual presentation I enjoyed that I have tell about my self where m I what is my position whether I am understanding the environment and work, from that I gained knowledge about hierarchy got to know colleagues. Met with other apprentices as well. Its great program for fresher people like me and working for Barclays is even more greater.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Apprentice program is properly planned and well structured, and on timely basis we connect to our career coach, I have my 1 to 1's and updated my apprentice passport, and have sent them to the career coach. I have received my rating after individual presentation, and the have check each and everything according to that they give rating. It is well structured.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • When I join Barclays I was assign a mentor he was very helpful and guided me in the technical as well as other things. My lead guide me at the same time he is strict which is a good thing so that I work on time and manage my work and complete my tasks. They are helpful and supportive. They motivate me and encourage me to face new tasks and meet dead lines on time.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A lot of support I have received from my trainer for my technical skills, and other things I have learnt from them. They are helpful and supportive. They motivate me and encourage me to face new tasks and meet dead lines on time. I have created various projects they used to give me task and if I am facing issue they guide me and give chance to complete it. I have received a lot of support from my trainer.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has helped me a lot, I got the chance to know how to code for big projects and I came to how technically work is done. How to find problem and resolve it, code it push it and deploy it. Its good I gained knowledge and I am performing these tasks.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there are extra-curricular activities. I have participated in various activities in CSR like sports meet for special children (Went to volunteer them and encourage them), Volunteered for career guidance (Students came from various college, guided them how to crack interview and how to apply for job what are rounds for interview etc.) Participated in Office event as well. Volunteered for Water conservation.

  • Culture is good and Barclays is the best platform where you can grow in your career. Environment is also good. Can work stress free. Colleagues are cooperative and helpful. They have various activities you can participate. Barclays have values that is very good for your personality and professionally. Its good to work with Barclays.As Barclays have values that will help to build your personality and its good for you professional career. Here is chance you will get to grow yourself and you will get to participate in various activities that are fun and you will enjoy your work as well. There are times where you will have so much of load in your work but side by side they have these sessions like meditation yoga in this way you'll feel relax and stress free.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • Keep Applying on the portal, and prepare for the interview. Prepare your Communication skills. As Barclays have values that will help to build your personality and its good for you professional career. Here is chance you will get to grow yourself and you will get to participate in various activities that are fun and you will enjoy your work as well. There are times where you will have so much of load in your work but side by side they have these sessions like meditation yoga in this way you'll feel relax and stress free. You have prepare yourself for this.
