  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a team leader within Barclays Packaged Bank Accounts and Packs complaint department. My role involves managing a group of agents with their daily role. I need to ensure that quality, performance and attendance are all worked on and remain within acceptable limits as well as manage any issues which may arise in these areas. I also get involved with site recognition, litigation cases, QA, QC and work allocation to name a few.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Skills which I have learned from the program include networking with others and learning about other aspects of the business. I have also learned skills in finances, including balance sheets and profit and loss. One skill I have also learned was regarding emotional intelligence and how this can be used with my team and for effective management.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my program, not just for the skills that have been taught within the lectures and assignments, but also the networking and people skills through meeting all the other people from across Barclays. I have made some life long friendships and also developed a wider understanding of the world of Barclays as well as how to hone my skills from the lessons and where I can apply them within the workplace

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program appears to be well structured and for the most part, organised. There has been a couple of occasions where the lecturer has not had the right paperwork but we have still been able to work round that effectively. The lesson plans are only a minimal part of what you learn as the lecturers have so much insight and passion into what they are teaching and it is great to be a part of

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer supports me by being flexible with my study time and gives me enough time to ensure my work is not slipping as well as having the time to complete assignments. I do not have issues with time needed for study blocks or getting money back for travel costs. I do not over rely on them for course content support but I think if I needed to, the support would be available

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The lecturers and personal tutors are always on hand should we have any questions or concerns or if we are in need of a catch up. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], the course lead is amazing and so knowledgeable and supportive with every aspect of the course and you can see she is there for you whether she has a million things on her plate or not

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The course provides some vital insights and different ways of thinking and approaching of different matters and probes you to think and consider other elements that may not have been considered otherwise. It also gives me a chance to look into the other aspects of the bank and how all the different factions fit together and work as one for our customers

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • One of the projects was relating to setting a plan to raise funds for a charity and my group did particularly well in this so that we could go on and take this as a module to be taught to another team and this has then allowed for extra fund raising activities within the work place

  • 9a. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The support and opportunities that are available have been fantastic, there is a real chance to grow personally and skill wise so that you can become a better and more rounded person. I have never been a manager until working at Barclays and I don't think I would have ever been if it was not for the opportunities that I have been offered

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • I would recommend others to apply for Barclays as the opportunities are endless. They really care about their staff and their customers and are always out to do the right thing. They aim to lead the way with innivotive ideas and it is really exciting to be a part of that and watch it grow
