  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • day to day i collate information and use it to create either Powerpoint packs used for meetings, such as our delivery managment meetings or our programme forum meetings, alternativly the information can be used to create reports. I also help manage the Project manger's on our portfolio, by ensuring they complete reports, help them add resources, assist with new governance procesess, and help them run their projects day to day however i can.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt skills such as how to write minutes properly, how to use excel with an array of formula's, also how to add resources and manage a portfolio's finances. Furthermore, i have learnt an array of social skills and how to approach topics with different people. this appreticeship has also helped me develop my public speaking and people skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i enjoy my programme as i find the work challenging yet rewarding. In the beginiging i struggled to get used to a huge corporate environment, however over the past few months i have been able to improve my social skills so the enviroment in which i work is slowly improving.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • my programme is realitivly well organised. I am always informed weeks in advanced about when my next workshop or course is. In addition, i am constantly being checked on internally to ensure that i am coping well and managing my work/life balence well. The training providers also ensure that i keep track of my portfolio work and have adequetly prepared me for my exam.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Internally, i recieve alot of support from my team, specifically my line manager. He ensures that i have enough time to complete my college work as well as learning an array of new skills. Furtehrmore, the apprentice team here are amazing, i have struggled alot in the social side of work so regular meetings have been put in to help me. they act as therpy and a helping hand when needed, providing support in all areas from work to social skills and making friends.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • QA provides regular support to help me complete my various qualifications. I see my trainer every six weeks to talk through my progress and my portfolio. When attending the courses themselves, the QA trainers are supportive and run the course at a pace that is detailed yet easy to understand.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am currently completing a project manager qualification. This helps in my day to day job role because it allows me to assist the Project managers with areas such as risks, finance and planning. It also provides me with a deeper understanding of the job role of a project manager.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are alot of social events here. they run a fully equipped gym on site which hosts numerous classes to get involved in. I am apart of the on site events committee for the annual fun day as well as the women in technology group. There are also numerous oppurtunities provided for networking including offsites and team nights out.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great employer that offers a comprehensive apprentice scheme. It has a wide range of social activities as well as support from both colleuges and the apprentice team. you feel like a vauled member of the team and are rewarded annually with a bonus as well as wage rises.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • Ensure that you come across as keen to learn. Although they look at your qualfications, they tend to look for apprentices who would fit into a team and add something more than just knowledge. ensure that you come accross confident with a willingness to learn, this makes you desirable to most employers.
