  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • i am on the Barclays.net amendments team I deal with corporate customers who would like to amend their Barclays.net/ iportal account, this contains dealing with the forms ensuring they are signed correctly by looking at the mandate and directors. I work alongside an offshore team in Mumbai who receive the forms first then repair them back to us once they have been checked and repaired if needed.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of new skills such as dealing with customers on the phone and over email I have to act in a professional manor always which was new to me as I had never worked in this environment. I know how to navigate on all of the systems which are provided through a lot of training. I have developed in confidence through moving teams and meeting new people.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my programme I think it is a really good idea moving from team to team and in the end I got to stay at the team which I enjoyed the most. it was good learning about the bank through the RBCB however it doesn't actually apply to my role, I think the exam is hard as it doesn't actually give you any mock papers of the exam so it is hard to develop an understanding of what it is actually like.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say it is a really organised from Barclays however knowledge pool can be a bit unorganised at times but I don't think it is down to the staff its just how everyone is completing the different parts of the apprenticeship at different times, we should have weekly meeting with the knowledge pool to keep on top of this

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer, my team leader is always pushing me to get my apprenticeship work in order for me to be completed as soon as possible. Barclays on a whole have been really supportive throughout the whole process are there when we need them.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received a lot of support, however as previously stated it can be a bit unorganised but I don't think this is down to the person just how many people are on the apprenticeship scheme and where everyone is up to. This could be helped through set meeting.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I don't really think it has helped me in the specific role I am in due to me not actually dealing with any banks/money hand on I am in the background making the amendments on their Barclays.Net system rather than actually servicing the client for general queries.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • it is a brilliant place to work for, everyone is so friendly and I couldn't imagine working anywhere else. there are also a lot of opportunities for you to develop. I would also recommend it as there are many things to get involved in such as the globes and other social events

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • I would say be confident, always be willing to change and develop when new opportunities come. don't be shy to step out of your comfort zone and get involved in as many activities possible including going out after workwith your team going to the globes with the team and building a good friendship with all of your team as it makes working a lot more fun
