My day to day role is maintaining the plan / equipement which forms the National Grid Transmission system.

Yes, I’ve learnt lots of new skills throughout my two years at the company.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme is very enjoyable, with an opportunity to learn both on and off the job.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very structured. You’ll receive a plan for the year before your even start at the company - giving you an opportunity to plan for the year ahead.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from the employee.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The trainers, both internal and external, are all very good. You get to know them over your training and alway want to help you out.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

You’ll recieve a Preforming engineering operations qualification, Level 3 city and guilds in power transmission and distribution, trailblazer, internal qualication from the business and a number of authorisations both internally and externally such as: Person, Competent person, MEWP operator, PASMA and lots more.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, whilst you are working away training.

Yes

It’s a good apprenticeship with lots of opportunities.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to National Grid?

Be patient, the process can sometimes take a while and apply early as the NG apprenticeship recruitment process starts quite a bit before other companies. Good luck!
