  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Assist Client Advisors in admin tasks and supporting them with client information and documents. we do admin tasks from updating client information to putting together packs which include client asset allocation and their holdings which are used by client advisors in meetings with clients to explain what their money is doing and how it is invested

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to be organization and how to manage my time in an efficient manor as well as being able to prioritise certain work that is more urgent than others. i have learnt it is important to be confidence and ask questions - no question is a stupid one.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • the programme is extremely enjoyable, allowing us to take on more responsibility that we thought would be possible. you are given jobs that are crucial to ensure clients receive the best possible experience as well as allowing client advisors to have a smoother relationship with their clients - with little complaints.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the structure is layed out and is very clear, it is organized extremely well with training days booked in (way in advanced) and catch up with our managers, and skills coach as well as having a team which we are able to contact with any problems or queries. training is relevant to our role and is important to ensure we understand what we are doing.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • we have a really high level of support with a bi-weekly team meeting and a monthly one-to-one with our line manager, as well as being able to contact any of the 'Young Talent Recruitment' team. we also have a skills coach which we meet with every few months to ensure we are making the most of our apprenticeship and that we are getting on well and are happy.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • there is a help line open all day every day which we can use to ask questions related to both content on our course as well as general queries and ask for advice around revision or time-management. our provider (fitch) also supply a skills coach who we meet with bi-monthly

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • our qualifications and exams we take directly link to our day-to-day activity and help us understand the back bone of what the bank does. our first exam was all around the financial market as a whole, this massively helped us to understand the products sold and the format in which they are traded. we have further training around Excel and presentation skills which is immensely important and allows us to better as apprentices.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are hundreds of networks within the bank from cooking clubs to skiing societies, as well as talks that are provided around different topics from CPR to staying health to mental health. there are many opportunities within the bank that allow you to network with people who are interested in the same thing as you or who are willing to learn about new activities.

  • Yes

  • the programme is so well structured and the support received is finominal! there is so much provided by UBS from the talks put on by external inspirational speakers to a happy, positive, clean working environment allowing you to work productively and get the most out of the work you submit. 100% recommend


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
  • - ensure you understand the 3 keys that UBS stand for and support (behaviours, principles and pillars) - be enthusiastic and willing to learn - being willing to take on tasks you have never done before - take responsibility for both rewards and mistakes - take an interest in up-and-coming events and projects UBS are putting on
