  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • AstraZeneca gives their apprentices opportunity to rotate in different departments. for my year we get to choose 3 departments and spend 8 months in each department before make a decision about our permanent role. During my first rotation I am working as a Business Analyst supporting the companies digital transformation. Working closely with latest technologies and providing device support and training to our employees and suppliers to improve collaboration.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Working as a Business Analyst really helped me to understand business requirements and making sure that the new technology we introduce will really help them to improve their performance. It is very important to understand the business needs in order to deliver the right product and this role gave me the opportunity to understand the importance of it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It definitely gives me a lot of confidence and the right knowledge. I am an IT apprentice and before I started my course I had no prior knowledge. In such a short time, I learn how to program, how to design a webpage and also gained skills around information systems and how to write a report.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think it is an amazing company to work for. They truly believe in diversity and have a great work culture. I am an older apprentice with two young children and wanted a career change in IT. As long as you have a passion for science and technology, you are given the same opportunity as everyone.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AstraZeneca?
  • Show that you are passionate about science and technology (in my case). Demonstrate that you understand their value and that you have a flexible attitude. You don't necessary need prior knowledge in the area that you are applying for but it is important that you can work well with others and are a team player.
