  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As part of the Wi-Fi team I monitor the state and connectivity of routers, switches and APs. if there are some issues I will complete commands on them using secureCRT and if appropriate, I will contact the customer to reset the router/AP or book an engineer to investigate the issue.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed skills in communication as before my apprenticeship, I was not very confident in being on the phone and talking to customers/engineers, so I have improved my skills and confidence in that. I have learnt skills in some of the systems which I use on a day to day basis.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe my apprenticeship is well structured as I have been receiving lots of training throughout my day to day role which have helped me to learn many new aspects of BT and what we do here. I also believe having a study day straight after university helps as the work we have done is fresh in our mind.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive lots of support from my training provider when working towards my qualification as after every lecture, I am sent the whole presentation from the lecture we have just been in. this gives me the chance to go over the whole lecture and make my own notes in my own time.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • The tips and advice I would give people applying to BT are to prepare well for all of the interviews that you come across as part of the application as this will give you a great chance of succeeding, also prepare well on BTs values and other relevant information for the assessment centre.
