  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The job role I have undertaken is an Information Risk and Privacy analyst. Day to day I carry out various tasks for multiple teams across my department. This includes Business Continuity work for the BC team, SQL tasks for the User Access and Administration team, 3rd Party Due Diligence tasks for the ESAC team and various other miscellaneous tasks for other teams.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many skills since working at Prudential, this ranges from technical skills on the computer, to people skills whilst conversing with new colleagues or business partners over the phone. I have learnt how to manage my workload while balancing apprenticeship and Prudential work together. I continue to develop my skills daily.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Since starting at Prudential, I have enjoyed my experience of the apprenticeship program, I still enjoy the scheme and will hopefully carry on enjoying it until I finish. I enjoy many aspects, this may be the work I carry out daily, the organisational structure of the program, the company ethic, the colleagues and apprentices I have met etc.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by M&G?
  • I feel fairly valued by Prudential, I have been involved in many different tasks within my department and team, where I have carried out various different activities. I have also been involved in projects outside of my team, whether it be with some apprentices from other locations such as Craigforth or Dublin, or a volunteering activity with the Reading apprentices.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structure with a strict organisational regime forwarded by our Apprenticeship manager. I am satisfied that we are all looked after sufficiently while also having a fair degree of independence. I have many different peers to seek for support, I have been supplied a ‘buddy’ and mentor as well as having my line manager to report into.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Within the first few months of my apprenticeship, our skills coach (an employee of my training provider) quit his job, so I was left with no skills coach for a couple of months and was left with no real idea of what I was doing with regards to my qualification. On a better note, all of my training courses have been ran well and I have enjoyed them while passing all my exams so far.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support from my employer. This comes in the form of a ‘buddy’ which is a past apprentice who gives me advice and supports me with my apprenticeship, helping with my qualification as well as day to day work activities. Other support comes in the form of a mentor who advises me with work and sets me tasks which may not directly apply to my current work but will help with my development within the company.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is good and meets all my required costs and isn’t too far to travel from home. I get the train to work to daily, and the salary is enough to cover my train costs. There is also a canteen on site which isn’t too expensive so I can afford to buy lunch as well.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are various activities outside of work which I have the opportunity to participate in, I have attended a volunteering day at a local charity where we helped rejuvenate a garden. There are also many events hosted by the company, this includes quiz nights, wine tasting, Christmas parties, food tasting events and many other social gatherings.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Good company to work for, good prospects, good salary. Great industry to do an apprenticeship and start a career.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to M&G?
  • Prepare for your assessment day and interviews. Always have questions prepared when you go into an interview, make notes, research the company, stay calm. Keep a cool head, stay attentive, dress smart, show interest all the time.
