  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Barclays degree programme has enabled me not only get a degree and leadership experience across a number of frontline roles and also provided me a platform on getting onto the graduate programme at Barclays. • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learned a great deal about leadership, strategy and business in general. Through a number of frontline roles, I learned how Barclays operates and learned about they key challenges. I've also worked with a wide range of diverse people and stakeholders which allowed me to put my leadership and management skills into practice. I've also improved my networking skills and confidence which is helping in my day to day role and life

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I loved the programme as it allowed me to get a university degree and leadership experience. It has met and exceeded my expectations and helped me to progress with my career. Throughout 3 years I felt locked into the branch network however, so this is the only thing I'd change. This also allowed me to secure a place on the graduate programme in Barclays and I also met some great people. Tutors were great and very supportive and overall I found programme really enjoyable. And what's best - I got a degree completely for free.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Barclays?
  • This relates to the internal mobility and progression - been at Barclays for 7 years but feel that lately that I've been slowed down in terms of the career progression. This has changed quite a lot since I rolled off the degree programme and grad scheme.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Fairly organised. When I joined BDP in 2011, there was very little knowledge and awareness about the programme in Barclays and the rotation process wasn't well defined. This posed a number of challenges when moving roles as part of the programme. Programme managers have been very helpful however!

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I've received a lot of support and regular training events when I was on the programme but this has stopped now. I was able to email questions to the tutors and they went above and beyond in responding. However this has stopped completely since I rolled off the programmes, so I would suggest that some post programme training is done - I feel this would make me feel more valued and appreciated.
