  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job is a sales support consultant. My daily tasks have changed every couple of months as we have moved teams every 3 months, this has allowed me to get a chance of seeing different aspects of the company. My first job was in the business transfer team, I helped out with summaries. Summaries are used to help our financial advisors sell our products by comparing our products and services. My second rotation has put me in the internal support team this was a hard team as it involved a lot of responsibility as I dealt with death confirmed and gone aways. This was important as it was very sensitive and time consuming as we had to make sure the advice charge was stopped. My current team is the relationship this is where I deal with our partners and help them in there day to day tasks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned to be more confident in my work and speak up whenever I am unsure as here at Prudential everyone wants to help you and see you succeed. We have been doing work for BPP, they are the company that provide all the work for our apprenticeship we usually do a workbook every 2 months and are currently embarking on a business project.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship is structured very well we receive monthly meetings to check on our progress with our manager and apprentice coordinator. My manger always makes sure I get my 7 hours a week to complete any work I need to do for BPP and if I need any training they make sure I get it and get licensed on anything I need.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The training provider is always there to email or phone. They also make monthly phone calls and visit us every 3 months. Whenever I have had a problem I feel like they have fully supported me through everything. We also receive help from the trainers in the office they help to give us any additional support we may need and help answer any queries we have about the job or apprenticeship.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer again has always been there if we need them I can phone my apprenticeship coordinator or talk to my manager and buddy. we also have regular meetings to check if I am ok and still making progress. We also receive a yearly review, in this review we set targets and at the 6 month mark we review this and make sure we are still on target this helps to focus on what your manager expects and wants you to do.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary is very good compared to others. It helps when prudential provide a free bus to work and have other incentives like discounts at bars and restaurants. The only downside is that it is hard to drive here as I do live so far away and because there are so many people that work here the car park is a nightmare. The positive is the bus as it saves so much money and time and is a stress free way of getting to work.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • We have always been given the opportunity to help outside of work through our charities and events like ride London . We have also been taken to the company conference which was a good experience and allowed us to meet new people. We have also had charity days, we recently helped out at a community garden which was very rewarding and showed the company in a good light to the local community.
