  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My current role is a technician role for the production line in the helix department of Teledyne e2v, this involves me working with the production line making sure everything is working as it should, looking into any problems and preventing them from happening again and looking into methods to help save time and money.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Throughout the course I have already learnt a multitude of skills some being new and some I've simply developed over time from being here. From being on placement and developing your communication skills and how you present yourself due to all the different people you will meet, to learning new skills from different training courses available to you through out your apprenticeship.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here so far, the work is really good as you get involved with really good projects where you can see the project from start to finish and be heavily involved with the designing and build of it. You also get to meet so many new people with lots of experience who will help you along the course.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Teledyne/E2V?
  • Although your title is apprentice you are treated the same as everyone else on site. You receive a lot of recognition for your work throughout your apprenticeship, from reviews with your manager to see how you have performed and reflect on your work to having a awards night once a year to give out awards to apprentices for their hard work.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Where the apprenticeship has been running for many years it has become very refined, for example you start by having training at a college before starting on site, followed by a month of training on site to give you all the essential skills you will need to work around site in the different areas.
