  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I undertook a mont long internship during the summer of 2015 for a major PR company in London. My work involved shadowing members of the team to gain a full understanding of the nature of public relations work.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learn how day to day life runs in a workplace which was a valuable insight for me. Witnessing the way in which all the team members work together and complement each other's work in order to better the overall performance was an informative and inspiring experience. Gaining more advanced computer skills and approaches to communicating with clients were other skills which I took away from the experience.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and motivated me to pursue a career in the sector. However, as an intern I did feel slightly that I was getting in the way sometimes and that I couldn't do all the things I wanted.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Gravity?
  • I feel like as an intern you can only be valued to a certain extent. But everyone made an effort to show me that they appreciated the work I was doing and the effort that I was putting into the work.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There were two members of staff in charge of me and they had a structured plan of which jobs I was to do. They ensured I got experience of carrying out conference calls with clients, contributing to press releases, editing materials prior to submission and preparing short pieces for their monthly magazine

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My mentors were always accessible and were never too busy to help me out when I had a problem. They gave me constructive feedback on all my tasks and made it a much more enjoyable experience.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • With the employer I had less contact but it was clear that he had passed on a lot of the tasks and the information which was given to me. At the end I had a chance to meet him.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary was very good and I would be pleased with this level of salary to cover living costs and daily costs of life. Especially in London, where everything is generally more expensive.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes there are many sports teams and company events which were avaialable to take part in and this is a very important social aspect to a job in my opinion. The chance to socialise with your colleagues and build bonds is crucial.

    8/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Gravity to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it's a fantastic opportunity to get into the sector, or if you decide you don't want to work in this particular sector it offers you the chance to make contacts and get experience of a busy office.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Gravity?
  • The application process is straight forward - simply send in your CV. Then, you will be invited for a phone or skype interview which is fairly relaxed and nothing to get too stressed about. I would recommend writing everything down during the placement to ensure you get the best out of it. And keep those contacts for the future!
