  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a manufacturing based apprentice I spend placements across site in all departments of production so my day to day can vary often, I am currently in a WCM focused improvement team working on cost cutting and implementing improvements to production areas

  • I have learnt skills on data gathering and my confidence on presenting my findings and data to senior members of staff

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My apprenticeship is great as I never feeling stuck in the mud I am always coming to work and learning new skills and developing myself

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Unilever?
  • Extremely valued as I am implementing improvements to help the operators in there day to day jobs while saving the company money at the same time, managers always catch up with us to see how we are doing or show us appreciation on work we have done

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the programme is great I feel I have the support from my manager for anything I need, for example with things like studying for my qualifications and the day to day job. when starting the apprenticeship the induction was great it covered all departments on site, a history of the company and the expectations of all employees on site.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Whilst at college and studying the tutors are great and always willing to help, if doing some work at home if you get stuck you are always free to email them and they get back to you as soon as they can, whilst at college I feel like the tutors attitudes are very focused on getting us the qualifications and training we need

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support from unilever is great, my manager is understanding with issues I bring to him and helps me with them and supports me, my manager makes himself accessible at all times and always makes time for the apprentices. The HR team are great at resolving any issues you bring them and easy to get a hold of

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Great, I still live at home with my parents so the only costs I really need to cover is daily costs of food and transport

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • The unilever programme has a 3 year personal development course in which once a year all unilever sites across the UK gather apprentices for a weekend of outdoor activities such as camping, canoeing, raft building ect.. all which help develop skills you can use in the workplace such as working in teams effectively

  • 9. Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Its a great company to work for as you gain many skills and develop yourself whilst in the apprenticeship whilst earning a good wage at the same time, the company itself has great prospects within the company with constant opportunity's to move around and further develop, the company also offer great prospects such as a pension plan and shares scheme


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • Just be yourself and research into the company you are applying for whether it be unilever or not it never hurts to go for a interview aware of the company
