My job title is Technical Services Specialist, I create virtual machines and manage the infrastructure regarding them. I attend conferance calls most days in order to discuss either existing or new infrastructure that I will be implementing. One of my resonsibilities is to check for any incidents that occur that may affect business.
I have attended an external VMWare VSphere course and I have learnt how to use all of the functions of this software. I have also learnt how to conduct myself in the workplace from my colleagues.
I enjoy work and the team that I work in, I feel that it met my expectations exactly in terms of how happy I would feel in the job.
I often receive feedback from my manager, and have received a 'broze award' for my contribution to a certain project. All in all I do feel valued in the business.
My program is fairly well structured, each month I partake in a 'one-to-one' with my manager considering how my apprenticeship is going, once a week is put aside in order to complete my college work, and my mentor is always on hand to give me assitance or guidance if I need it.
Once a month we receive a visit from our adviser, regarding how the apprenticeship is going and the progress that is being made. Once every two weeks we are visited by a tutor who will provide us with work to do on our college days. All in all I feel like I am well supported.
My employer and mentor provide me with enough support in order to progress normally in my apprenticeship, and the attitude they display towards this has been nothing but good.
For an apprentice's salary I beleive mine is very good, it covers all my costs well and I never struggle to get to work or to live.
The company hold quite a few events outside of work, usually to do with fundraising for a charity.
