Currently as a higher apprenticeship doing my rotations in the different areas of the business my day to day work changes quite regularly. I am part of several jobs and tasks which are designed to help me improve my engineering knowledge. I am also required to attend weekly team meetings to discuss how current projects are developing within my office.
I have learnt a variety of new skills which will help me to thrive within the business once my apprenticeship is finished. It has also helped me to develop soft skills such as increasing confidence. Furthermore extra internal courses are available to take on to help receive extra qualifications such as management training.
I enjoy my programme a lot as it gives me the best of both worlds. I am able to learn and gain qualifications at the same time as earning vital work experience. This also allows me to use the knowledge I have learnt and apply it to my day to day job.
I do feel valued on my apprenticeship as there is constant support to help you progress in your career. I also have my own personal mentor who helps me with any problems I may have.
The programme is very well structured and I have a clear idea of what the next stage of my apprenticeship entails. Regular apprenticeship team meetings also take place to make sure that everyone is up to date with any changes that may be taking place. The education side of the scheme is also a clear path to the final award I am aiming for.
Support will be given to those who ask for with the training provider. They are always willing to help and can be easily contacted outside of college time which is really beneficial for any queries that you may have with your work.
I receive lots of support from my apprenticeship manager who will help you to solve any problems as quick as possible. They will look after you well being put that first when aiming to solve any issues you may have. The team a really supportive and constantly check to make sure you are happy in your current job role.
My salary is a very good starting salary. The salary will go up based on performance within the company. The package meets my costs and I am able to save regularly.
As part of the apprenticeship scheme there are many events outside of work which I can take part in. These events include careers events, voluntary events and school challenges. These opportunities are available to all apprentices and highly recommended we take part in.
Yes
The apprenticeship is very supporting and looks to get the most out of you as possible. They will reward for hard work and also aim to constantly improve your skills. The apprenticeship team are friendly supportive and will guide you onto a strong career.
I would advise that you have a good knowledge with the STEM subjects and have a passion for problem solving tasks. If you are someone that gets a sense of achievement upon completing tasks then you would find this job very rewarding. It is also good to have some background knowledge in even a small engineering task you may have undertaken in the past to talk about on the assessment day.
