I am a first year advanced apprentice. My role is to eventually qualify as a level 3 engineer and work in structural testing laboratories.
I have learnt many skills in practical elements of my job role, including how to use machinery such as lathes and milling machines, as well as develop knowledge and skills on car parts and fitting.
I enjoy being in plant and working directly with the company in my specific job role. I do not however enjoy the college side of the apprenticeship, purely for the reasoning that the college is crap at organisation and communication with students.
I feel extremely valued. I have already had many an opportunity with the company, including participating in charity events. I feel supported and listened to when any issues arise.
The organisation side of our programme is clear and well structured, including time frames and completion dates. It is not however, delivered very well from the college side.
Absolutely nothing. They are completely useless at coordinating with students and quite frankly their communication skills are particularly poor. I find it extremely frustrating that not one person will assist in any issue that arises and that the college does not care.
An extremely large amount. I can contact managers and supervisors with ease and always swiftly receive a response. Nothing is to hard for them to deal with.
At the moment it is ok, however I do still have a secondary job in order to cover all aspects of my finances. With time my pay will increase and this will be much better.
Yes there are many opportunities. I am currently raising money with my department for charity by attempting the 3 peaks challenge. There is also opportunity to develop many different skills outside of the company, but with company funding.
Yes
The support, end pay and programme is amazing. JLR is such a good company to work for. It is a career for life.
Just do your best.
