  • Technical based engineering apprenticeship - Rotate around different departments of the business 4 months at a time, supporting day-to-day tasks and understanding business processes.

  • NVQ Level 3, HNC 2nd Year, Software Training (Autodesk, CATIA). Practical Skills/ Equipment Training - CNC, Lathe, Fitting, Pillar Drill, Riveting etc.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Always learning something new or developing new skills. Work can vary from office based jobs to more practical activities depending on the department.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BAE Systems?
  • Apprentices are given work that is beneficial to the department they are working in order to contribute to work load.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Apprenticeship is very well organised on the whole. Extensive training throughout and support is always available if needed.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Each apprentice is assigned a mentor throughout the apprenticeship period to provide support.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Every department that I have worked in has always been available for any guidance or issues I may have had regarding the apprenticeship.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Salary is very competitive compared to other apprenticeships that are available. Starting on roughly £11k with incremental pay rises throughout at different milestones.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Many opportunities available outside of work for those that are interested. Sporting activities, hosted events etc. Opportunity to travel overseas with work in UAE, Germany, Saudi etc, along with travel across UK to other BAE sites and air bases.

  • 9. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • Fantastic scheme that provides many opportunities to develop yourself and gain many skills


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Make sure you provide examples of different competencies ready for the interview ie team working, leadership, working under pressure etc.
