I am a AVA CAD Engineer which takes geometry and creates tools so that the user of the model can use it easier to create robust geometry.
My computer skills since I started have improved dramatically. I have been on many CAD course so I can do my role to the best of my ability.
I love getting up in the morning because everyday is different. I will be learning a new skill or increasing my overall knowledge. The most enjoyable part of my job is actually helping to move Jaguar Landrover to the top of the car industry.
I've been given a range of important tasks that make me feel that I am known and respected when I get the job done.
The whole apprenticeship in general has been improved since the first apprentice programme and there is always room for improvement. However, within Body Engineering since the structure changed within then managers the experience and tasks are being completed at a high standard.
The training provider for Jaguar Landrover give us the necessary material to learn but only rarely teaches. its a case of revise yourself situation. However, since I started my course this has been improved.
I have constant contact with an expert. if it isn't my mentor I can ask other workers in the business that are always happy to help.
The Salary with the job is very good. I feel that all the effort and time I put into my work pays off when I can go home and reward myself. This has been a big motivator.
We get the offer to do a CSR event which I always put my hand up for. this is because I want to give back to Jaguar Landrover what they gave to me. A career. the CSR events are basically going to schools or events and speaking to the public about the apprenticeship and get engineering known.
Yes
It has changed my life. I have a purpose which is to make Jaguar Landrover the best. I get up in the morning and always want to come to work. all the experiences they have given me are incredible. I have a set goal and that is to go up the ranks in the business and gain all the skills that comes with it.
You do not need to be the most intelligent person in the world to be a JLR apprentice. You need to have the necessary behaviours that allows you to work with people and are motivated to gain them skills that you lack. If you do. I wasnt the most intelligent person on my course but I never stop watching to learn and get the most out of my experience here. As i said, Motivation and the correct behaviours are everything.
