  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Mainly in the office at a computer doing lab related work, sometimes practical. Doing uni work part-time one day a week. NVQ units and courses

    4/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Developed personal skills and learnt to be more impatient. I have learnt that the apprenticeship is different to what was advertised. Rating 1 star but it wont accept

    4/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I don't enjoy it as I feel stuck doing what I want to do. I've been told if I don't like it then I can leave. It is a shame Rolls-Royce is happy for people with potential that could really help the company to leave. Our NVQ optional units do not fit. We are paid less than other apprenticeships with out qualifications. Rating 1 star but it wont accept

    3/10

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Rolls-Royce?
  • Not at all because I've been told if I don't like my apprenticeship scheme then I can leave. I don't seem to be able to change or progress onto something else, other than what direction I'm in. I feel I'm going in the wrong direction and I have done lots of extra-curriculum activites to show my potential. I have hit my targets well ahead of what I need to be and there is no recognition, rewards or anything. Still I am not considered a 'high performer' when I have done everything I was asked and more. Rating 1 star but it wont accept

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It feels like it been made up as it goes along. There is no structure but 10 weekly reviews to see how we are meeting targets. We don't even have a job specification. Rating 1 star but it wont accept

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Very little at university as they rarely answer emails and the lecturing isn't great, nor the marking of work. Rating 2 star but it wont accept

    2/10

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Enough if I was enjoying the apprenticeship. Could have been a lot more in the beginning as no ADL at start and noone knew about our scheme. The owner of the apprenticeship and our ADL (we meet regularly with) both say different things so its hard to know whats going on - if we are told. Rating 2 star but it wont accept

    2/10

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Not very well. The highers get a higher salary and we also were asked to come in with a levels. It is very hard with travel due to insurance expenses but the petrol expenses are good. Rating 4 star but it wont accept

    4/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, the company runs events (not always invited or don't know about them all), quite a few volunteering and community ones. Too knackered to do most currently

    8/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • I haven't had a good experience but it depends on the friend. Some of my friends definitely wouldn't 'fit in'. But I would recommend some schemes and areas and not others.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
  • Go into detail with written applications and do some research so you know background information. On assessment days, relax and they really like to see a 'can-do', friendly attitude. If you come over well, everyone will want to work with you so don't hide your personality, they want to see what you're like.
