1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I write processes for the machine shop, the includes looking at drawings and deciding on the best manufacturing methods to product that part.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

i have learnt to read drawings and identify areas of issue for the work shop. i have developed my problem solving skills and communication skills. i have learnt more about manufacturing processes and why they are needed for certain features.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i find work engaging and interesting, this makes it enjoyable.

4. How valued do you feel by Rolls-Royce?

i feel like my area need me but in the apprentice scheme i am another number and they only care about how my NVQ is going, not my overall learning.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

not very well, the college is not very organised and i often dont have a teacher and when i do they are rarely capable of teaching to the level required.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

The college try to support but they do not have the teaching resources to support foundation degree students

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

i feel like they will only support me if it is to do with NVQ, issues with the college have been flagged throughtout the course but no change has seem to happen.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

it covers it well, not many apprentices have an issue living on th ewage given, but it is always nice to have more..

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

there are community projects which we can attend as well as apprentice ran activities

9. Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?

Yes

Good brand to work for and you will be doing very technical and challenging work every day.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?

Try and have as much experiance as possible, maybe have part time jobs in engineering or other projects which you have done which set you apart from the crowd, you need to have something which others wont have.. and be yourself during application.
