  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title is audit assistant. My job consists of conducting audits of clients. My responsibilities lie in conducting audit of various areas of the financial statements. For example I would have to ensure that revenue and expenditure areas of the financial statements are no misstated. I usually work in small teams at the clients site. I tend to be in a different location every week.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have really developed a wide range of skills. For example communication skills- taking part of client meetings. Organisation and time management- I am responsible of auditing my chosen areas of the financial statements. I have deadline to meet and must use my organisation skills. I have also developed accounting and audit skills. I am currently studying AAT and will go on to ACA.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy working with a wide range of clients, which means meeting lots of new people. Similarly I get a lot of exposure in many industries. This gives me the chance to build lots of connections. I also really like the team spirit in my company and I get on really well with my colleagues.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Mazars LLP?
  • At the end of each audit (which is effectively a project) I get appreciation from Management for my work. I also get feedback from the client. From receiving the feedback I do feel valued by my firm as the client and internal management are recognising my efforts.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In terms of my studies it is really well structured. 3 years for AAT and 2 years for ACA. Overall it is well structured but the studies do not always match to what I am doing at work

  • Good support- I keep in regular contact with my tutors, and I confident to explain to them any concerns/issues

  • Good support- I keep in regular contact with my manager, and I confident to explain to him any concerns/issues

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Overall it is okay as I am living with my parents. It would be very difficult to manage if I had my own place. Overall it's fine.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are lots of social opportunities with my collegues. For example I have been to bowling, laser tag and meals. There are also fun away days, which I think is really good as it builds team spirit. There are other events such as seminars, Christmas dinners, football.

  • 9. Would you recommend Mazars LLP to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Mazars is a great firm as it provides you with an opportunity to really develop yourself professionally, and personally. The social life at Mazars is really good, and the staff are really friendly. The firm also gives a lot of support towards your studies.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mazars LLP?
  • I would recommend finding out about the firm, what services they provide etc... In the interview I would also practise your answers, and think about previous experiences where you have demonstrated skills. Also try to build rapport with the interviewer, they are people and they do want to know a bit about you and what you like. Any lastly be yourself, and don't get too nervous, the people at mazars are nice.
