Construction Management Programme
A Construction Manager works on site to make sure everything runs smoothly. This is a really important job, as it involves working on every aspect of the project. Checking plans and designs, making sure the project progresses as planned, ensuring the highest level of safety and welfare, managing people as well as working with contractors. We are key to making sure a project is delivered safely, on time, to budget and to the highest standard.

Managing construction projects requires a combination of different skills. Of course, you need to be interested in engineering and building structures. That is really important. But to do a job like this also requires an ability to manage others and work well in a team.
What to study?
Maths and Science are important to becoming a Construction Manager, both at GCSE and A level. But you’ll also need good IT, planning and communication skills.
A five-year programme that combines academic learning with on-the-job training. Successful candidates will complete a fully funded accredited day-release HNC and/or degree in their chosen area of interest while working as a Laing O’Rourke employee. The programme also includes a series of in-house modules, aimed at exposing you to the latest developments in construction and engineering. Your personal and professional growth will be supported throughout the programme using career planning toolkits and tailored development plans. During the programme you will work across a range of businesses and projects, which will offer the breadth and variety to support your career progression and will contribute towards your professional development.
