We take your training and development very seriously and invest heavily to provide you with all of the tools you will need to be successful as you progress into an engineer of the future. You’ll learn on the job, gaining vital hands on experience at our technologically advanced power stations around the UK whilst getting paid for it. What’s more, in years 1 and 2 you’ll gain formal Engineering training and qualifications with our very own Engineering Academy in Nottingham. In years 3 and 4 you will continue your development at one of our Power Plants in North Lincolnshire.
We have big teams of highly talented and experienced Engineers – who you’ll be learning from directly. There’s a real community feel – as you’ll be one of a number of Apprentices on the same career path together.
And, finally there’s our name. Uniper UK is recognised around the world as one of the largest power and energy companies in the world. We supply power to 40 million homes and businesses – over 5 million of them are here in the UK. We're also developing new ways to make the very best use of the energy resources at our 13 oil and gas fields across the UK, Norway and Russia. What’s more, we’re also working on new ways to deliver cleaner energy across the world.
What’s on offer?
At the end of your Apprenticeship, you’ll have some impressive qualifications under your belt, including a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering and an NVQ Level 3 in an Engineering discipline. This will enable you to gain rounded experience that could open up career opportunities including support for further education – even a degree! And, you’ll be well on your way to becoming an a Control and Instrument Engineer with real work experience behind you – even better you won’t have built up any debt.
Get qualifications and experience – and get paid! Your starting salary will be £12,447 but this will increase every 12 months subject to satisfactory performance, so in the fourth year, you could be earning over £20,000.
What do we look for?
We look for capable individuals who have a combination of academic achievements as well as an interest in engineering. So, if you’ve always been fascinated by how all things mechanical and electrical/electronic work, and you love taking them apart and putting them back together again, this apprenticeship could be perfect for you. It’s not about sitting in front of a computer screen. It’s about seeing how things work on the ground.
