About Transport for London
We're vital to London's future success, which means we could play a big part in yours.
Our transport network doesn't just help people get around, it can help people to get on. It can create opportunities for Londoners. It links our homes to our jobs, gets children to their schools, connects friends and family and joins London's businesses to customers. And it provides access to London's culture. This is why we need talented people like you, reflecting the diverse city that we serve.
As a quantity surveyor you will be involved in estimating project costs, procurement considerations to ensure successful project delivery, tender document preparation and financially controlling projects once they make it to site.
The Quantity Surveying apprenticeship will provide you with a comprehensive structured training over 2 years that will give you an introduction to a variety of areas. This apprenticeship offers you opportunities for placements around the business to gain a broad knowledge of different types of projects, and an understanding of what it takes to provide a world class transport system for the Capital. You could find yourself working within the Rail and underground, surface transport or our commercial team in corporate services, helping to deliver some of the most exciting and challenging transport, rail, highway and engineering projects in London. You will be working as part of a team on projects and interacting with other disciplines like engineers, HR professionals, or project managers. Your structured development programme is designed to give your career a real kick-start. You will have 6 month placements, where you will be working in a team with a support structure in place.
One of the biggest challenges we face is upgrading an infrastructure which dates back to 1863, while still running an efficient service. It also makes this an exciting time to be part of Transport for London; you'll contribute to our capital investment and on-going maintenance activities across the transport network, which could include other areas of the transport infrastructure such as London Overground and DLR.
