Crossrail Operations Engineering

The Elizabeth Line (Crossrail) will transform travel across London, boosting the economy and supporting thousands of new jobs and homes.

Rail for London Infrastructure will be responsible as Landlord / Infrastructure Manager for railway systems within the central operation section, 5 central section stations, shafts, portals and a number of surface stations. In readiness for the phased opening of this prestigious railway, we are seeking to recruit and train a highly skilled dynamic maintenance team to take us into operation, and beyond.

You’ll have a combination of classroom, practical and on the job training learning from our experts and professionals. You’ll begin to learn and understand the core skills to work safely on Crossrail and will gain the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified Rail Engineering Operative.

Placements on this apprenticeship scheme are split so that you experience a range of areas within the Elizabeth Line maintenance teams and other teams within TfL. As an apprentice you’ll undertake placements with teams undertaking routine maintenance, renewals and testing and commissioning activities. Your placements will be with different disciplines in any of the following areas:

  • Power
  • Signaling
  • Track
  • Lifts & Escalators
