Software Developer Apprenticeship
Dstl employs some of the world’s brightest people. We are always on the lookout for talented, creative and innovative individuals to join us.
We have an exciting opportunity in our Chemical, Biological and Radiological (CBR) Division to undertake an apprenticeship as a Software Developer. You will be joining our team of highly skilled and dedicated employees based at our Porton Down site in Salisbury.
You will have the opportunity to learn from colleagues who are experts in their field, and gain insights that can only come from real world experience.
The primary role of a software developer is to build and test simple, high-quality code across front end, logic and database layers. A developer will typically be working as part of a larger team, in which they will have responsibility for some of the straightforward elements of defence and security related projects. The developer will need to be able to interpret design documentation and specifications.
At the end of the scheme you will have had a good mix of academic and work-based learning experiences to ensure you develop the skills that will support you and the organisation in the future.
The level 4 Software Developer apprenticeship (equivalent to certificate of higher education) will be offered on a 2 year fixed term appointment with the potential to offer full-time employment if appropriate.
Apprenticeships are a ladder of opportunity, giving young people and adults the chance they deserve to get on and fulfil their potential. Dstl apprenticeships give you the opportunity to earn while you learn. We have a diverse, inclusive workforce making us an employer of choice.
At Dstl, as well as a rewarding career in defence science and technology, we operate a broad total reward and recognition package including:

Starting salary is: £15,142 per annum
Due to the reserved nature of this role, it is only open to UK Nationals who have lived in this country for more than five years. All posts require standard Security Clearance (SC).
