We want your first steps to be as exciting as the rest of your career at BAE Systems. With a wide range of apprenticeships across the business, we’re confident you’ll find an opportunity that will inspire you.

Apprentices are our future, so we invest in them. Whether you choose an engineering or a business apprenticeship you’ll be guaranteed a competitive salary; qualifications; hands-on training; and work where you can make a real difference, where it counts. Our Intermediate Apprenticeships offer technical opportunities to learn an essential specialist skill, such as scaffolding, painting or welding.

Whatever your skills and ambitions and wherever in the UK you live, if you bring your commitment and energy, you’ll be able to make a difference here doing work that really matters.

Opportunities available:

  • Ancillary
  • Burner
  • Joinery
  • Logistics
  • Painting
  • Scaffolding
  • Welding (Caulker)

Your Learning and Development

We don’t expect you to know everything about your chosen area of work and we don’t expect you to have experience in all the tasks you’ll be doing. In fact, the whole purpose of an apprenticeship is to learn and experience new challenges. We’re here to help you do that, supported by on-the-job training delivered by experienced professionals, off-the-job training in dedicated training facilities, and real work placements within the business. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with other apprentices from all parts of the business. Around 95% of our apprentices stay with us and go on to have successful careers.

What you'll need

We’re looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, have a desire to learn and want their hard work to make a difference. To join one of our Intermediate Apprenticeship programmes you must have five GCSEs grade A*-E/ 3-9 including Maths, English, Science/ Technical subject or 2 National 4s including Maths and English (or equivalent). One you begin your search you will find specific details on entry requirements within each role type.

We are an inclusive employer and strive to recruit, retain and inspire the best people from the widest pool of talent. We encourage and welcome applications from all sections of society and are happy to discuss any adjustments or arrangements, as required, to support your application.
