Apprenticeship, Full Time 45 Hours
Salary – £ 9.25ph rising to £9.78ph + Completion Bonus

About the Apprenticeship

An apprenticeship is the difference between a job and a career. As an apprentice with us, you still get paid really well – we’re industry front runners there – but, rather than perform a single function, you’ll learn about a number of different processes and how they work together to make our great-tasting products. Once you understand in-detail how everything works together, a world of tasty career options will open up for you.

Spending quality time in each department, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the manufacturing process. You’ll learn about raw ingredients in our Intake department. You’ll see how our products come together in Preparation and on our Productions Lines. Then it’s over to Dispatch to watch the products you’ve made get shipped out into the world. In Hygiene, you’ll see how me maintain all-important food safety standards. Mentored by industry experts all the way, you’ll come away inspired and raring to go.

About you

You’ll need basic Maths and English and, most importantly, a positive, can-do attitude. And we want to see an appetite for learning and a thirst for knowledge on all things manufacturing. That’ll include, the processes we use, how we solve problems and work as a team to maintain the highest standards. And how we communicate and get the best out of each other. You’ll be surprised how much you learn – it’ll be an achievement to be proud of.

Finishing the twelve-month programme gets you a substantial Completion Bonus and you’ll come out with a recognised Lean Manufacturing Operative Level 2 qualification. But best of all, you’ll have the confidence and knowhow that comes from seeing your hard work pay off. You won’t just have a new set of career goals – you’ll know just how to achieve them. We’re after people who want to build a long-term career with us and have the ingredients to become our managers of the future! Excited? Then you’re exactly what we’re looking for.

About Samworth Brothers

We’re The Cornwall Bakery, part of the UK market-leading Samworth Brothers Group, and a producer of pies, pasties, and slices that came into being when two long-standing Callington bakeries joined together as one. And we’re a Savoury Pastry Centre of Excellence. That’s not just hype – our trophy cabinet is full with British Pie Awards, Q Awards, and Food Manufacture Excellence Awards.

Our factories are friendly places. And our teams are more like families. We employ more than 900 people from the surrounding area and we want each one to take something truly positive from their time with us. Our community matters to us, that’s why we’ll always train and support you. Just look at the work we do offering work experience placements to local schools and our zero-waste-to-landfill commitments.
