Civil Engineering Degree Apprentice – Bridges Team
Are you looking to kick start your career as a Civil Engineer? Via currently has a fantastic opportunity to join our Design and Consultancy Department as a Civil Engineering Degree Apprentice within our Bridges Team based at our Trent Bridge House office, West Bridgford, Nottingham.
As Civil Engineering Degree Apprentice you will support the delivery of bridges/structures projects and assist with providing specialist engineering services which enhance and maintain the road network and meet company business plan objectives.
You’ll gain first-rate training and mentoring along with workplace experience and the formal qualifications to back it up! Throughout the training period you will gain your Level 6 Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship through one of our carefully selected partner Universities. What’s more, all of our apprentices are recruited on to a permanent contract from day one, so once you’re finished training, you’ll transition to a role within our Design and Consultancy Department.
About the role:
As a Civil Engineering Degree Apprentice within our Bridges Team, you will learn how to take responsibility for the design of smaller scale structures schemes, helping to meet internal and external stakeholder requirements and support delivery of complex and large-scale projects across the organisation and as a standalone service. You’ll also learn and support the evaluation and authorisation of third-party engineering schemes on behalf of internal and external clients to ensure the highway asset meets regional and national design specification and safety standards.
You’ll also learn about our health and safety management systems, processes and requirements in order to support full adherence to health, safety and environmental legislation, policy and best practice. As part of your role you will be assist with the communication and liaison with clients and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including members of the public and elected members to support project deliver and maintain a positive company reputation.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is excited at the prospect of developing a career as a civil engineer within the Highways/Construction sector.
We’re looking for:
- A minimum of 2 A Levels/BTEC (or equivalent), Maths or Science would be desirable.
- A minimum of GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
- Someone who can demonstrate a positive approach to problem solving and devising solutions
- Ability to use basic IT software, such as MS Office, and a willingness to learn more specialist IT applications.
- Demonstrates a responsible approach to health and safety
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high standard or written English, spelling and grammar.
