We are offering two Technician Scientist Apprenticeships within the Antibody Discovery and Protein Engineering (ADPE) Department.
ADPE is responsible for the discovery and optimisation of biological candidate drugs across all the therapy area drug discovery pipelines, as well as developing cutting edge biologics discovery platforms and novel drug modalities to support future drug discovery efforts.
We have two exciting opportunities;
The Phenotypic Screening and High Content Imaging team gives you the chance to learn cell culture techniques, many aspects of assay development (e.g. experimental design, data analysis, and use of laboratory automation), as well as cutting edge techniques in high content imaging, including confocal microscopy, image analysis and the use of Artificial Intelligence to handle and mine large data sets.
The Peptide Chemistry team, is where you'll work with our bench scientists to learn about rational peptide drug design, peptide synthesis, as well as their characterisation and biological evaluation.
You’ll be initially working towards a Level 5 Foundation Degree in Technician Scientist with Kent University as well as the potential to extend for a further two years and gain an honour’s degree
Additionally, you’ll be recognised by the relevant professional bodies at Registered Scientist (RSci) level, for which there is a requirement that the scientist will participate in subsequent continuing professional development on completion of the apprenticeship.

- Five GCSEs (or equivalent) grades 9–4 including Maths, English and Science
- To have achieved or predicted to achieve 2 A Levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above (1 of which needs to be Chemistry).
This is a 3 year Fixed Term Contract opportunity based at the Granta Park site in Cambridge offering £15,000 starting base salary + 11% benefits fund + bonus.
