Job Description Summary

We’re looking for innovative thinkers and team-players; people with an eye for detail who are keen to make an impact within banking and financial services. If that sounds like you, begin your career in Group Finance at Lloyds Banking Group to gain broad exposure.

About the programme

The Group Finance Apprenticeship Programme, starting in September 2021, offers exciting and fulfilling career opportunities for inquisitive, forward-thinking and solution-focused people.

Group Finance is a business function that plays a vital role in keeping Lloyds Banking Group safe, successful and sustainable while supporting the Group’s vision to be the best bank for customers. We manage all aspects of finance for the group, enabling the business to make better financial decisions. We put effective and transparent controls in place to manage risk, whilst meeting our statutory and regulatory requirements. That’s quite a responsibility, given that we’re one of Britain’s largest banks and the largest provider of digital financial products in the UK.

This programme will give you significant insights into our business. Our central role offers a perspective of how Lloyds Banking Group functions as a whole, and you’ll also discover how business areas operate across the organisation. This added exposure can be a valuable stepping stone towards senior leadership positions in the future. As a Finance Apprentice we can ensure you have the relevant support to develop the right specialist and leadership skills for a successful and impactful career.

What you’ll do

You’ll enjoy placements in the Group Finance Team teams where you will gain experience in one of our sub-teams who are responsible for reconciling, analysing and reporting on key data and results for Lloyds Banking Group. The role provides an excellent opportunity to build core finance skills and gain experience across a number of teams through a mixture of formal and on-the-job training.

You will complete your Level 4 Professional Accounting Technician (ACCA) qualification by the end of Year 2, and on completion of the Level 4 we will support you to complete your Level 7 Accountancy/Taxation professional (ACCA) apprenticeship, with a combined study time or around 5 years.

We are looking for inquisitive people with a mind for numbers and a passion for building great relationships who are looking to begin a career in finance. You’ll have real responsibilities and you’ll have support and development opportunities that are tailored to match your interests, plus a range of flexible benefits that come with a permanent role.

Entry requirements

  • Grade B or above in Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
  • 96 UCAS points (or equivalent)
  • We expect you to be motivated, ambitious and committed to your own development. In particular, you will be keen to get to grips with financial systems and processes.

In return, we’ll offer you a competitive package which includes salary, bonus, a generous pension contribution, an attractive path of progression and flex cash to spend on a host of benefits to suit your lifestyle. We have a long track record in flexible working and we’re always open to new ways to improve our people’s work-life balance, therefore open to discussion on working patterns and working hours.

Lloyds Banking Group is committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve, and to creating an inclusive workplace where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit.

Join us and be part of an inclusive, values-led culture passionate about making a difference. Whatever your dream, you can also expect excellent benefits, personal development and a career that’s enriching and full of opportunity.

You will undertake an assessment centre as part of the selection process.

Please note if we receive a large volume of applications the advertising may close earlier, so please don’t delay in submitting your application.
