IT Support Level 3 Apprenticeship

Job Role
We are looking to recruit an IT Support Apprentice who is a hardworking, organised individual with flexibility and a willingness to learn.
As a Microsoft Infrastructure Technician Apprentice your main roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Provision of 1st line IT support
  • Supporting and maintaining desktop and laptop operating systems including general maintenance of all IT related hardware/software
  • Responsible for maintaining and managing the email-based ticket support system and response
  • Reporting on support requests and actions during department meetings
  • Creating new accounts, including O365, SIMS, Biometric systems, and supporting student password management
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues relating to hardware and software, including MFDs and AV solutions
  • Assist in undertaking small to medium-sized IT projects
  • Support license and asset lists maintenance
  • Application of patches and software updates.

Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, you will receive Microsoft training and accreditation through blended learning. This combines online technical training within a virtual classroom, as well as real-world and practical experience with your employer. The certifications you gain are highly respected and globally recognised. The skills, knowledge and experience you will gain whilst on the programme are invaluable, giving you the best possible start in your professional career within the IT industry.

About the Company
Our employer is an Ofsted rated 'Good' School & Sixth Form academy in Emmer Green on the outskirts of Reading. It has a capacity for approximately 1450 students aged 11–18.
You would be able to take advantage of the staff membership of our gym and the subsidised canteen.
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there is the potential for full-time employment.

Training to be provided

Level 3 Infrastructure technician

You will be enrolled on to the award-winning Microsoft Partner Apprenticeship Programme. You will work towards gaining skills across a variety of technical areas including MTA Cloud Fundamentals and MTA Network Fundamentals, these are globally recognised certifications, you will also gain a City and Guilds Diploma in Coding and logic and mobile and operating systems. This will also extend to business processes and project management.

Desired qualifications

To be considered for this role, you ideally will hold a C/4 grade in both GCSE  or equivalent maths & English, and in three or four other subjects at least. You should have a GCSE, BTEC or A Level in ICT or at least practical experience with the workings of computers and IT.

Future prospects

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there is the potential for full-time employment.

Things to consider

Location - Reading, RG4
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm with 30 minute daily lunch break (37.5 hours per week)
Wage = £ 284.90 per week
