Accounting Level 2 Apprenticeship

Our Accounting Apprenticeship is available in our Sheffield office. During your apprenticeship, you can learn on the job while supporting our finance team within the firm’s Court of Protection (COP) department.

The Court appoints the COP team to manage clients’ property and affairs if they lack the capacity to do so themselves. Our team manage their finances and investments to make their money go as far as possible and last well into their future.

During your apprenticeship, you’ll get involved in a wide range of tasks, including:

  • Management accounting
  • Financial administration
  • Analysing costs of our services

Our Accounting Apprenticeship scheme will give you a great start in accountancy. At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll come away with a valuable industry-accredited accountancy qualification.

Our finance team and learning providers are based in Sheffield, so the apprentice position is only available in our Sheffield office.

Who’s It For?

If you’re confident with numbers then an AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) apprenticeship could be perfect for you. This course is a great way to build your skills towards a Level 2 AAT Certificate in Accounting, while also earning a wage. It’s a fantastic first step in your career.

You’ll earn a starting salary of £17,017 and get a range of employee benefits too.

What Will I Study?

The AAT and Sheffield College will deliver your academic learning. The AAT is a professional body that specialises in training for accountants. You’ll spend four and a half days a week in the workplace, and half a day at The Sheffield College. Your academic learning will cover most aspects of basic accounting, including:

  • Costing
  • Professional ethics
  • Computerised accounting
  • Working effectively in accounting and finance.

You can find more information on what you’ll study and the sort of work you’ll do as part of your apprenticeship on The Sheffield College website.

What Qualification Will I Get?

When you finish your apprenticeship, you’ll receive a Level 2 AAT Certificate in Accounting.

What Are The Entry Requirements?

You’ll need 5 GCSEs at grade A* – C, specifically Maths and English. If using the numbered grading system, you’ll need 5 GCSEs at grade 9 – 4.

What Can I Do After My Apprenticeship?

There are a number of roles you can progress to with us, such as a supervisor or team leader. We’re always keen to support and progress our employees as this can benefit you and our firm. You can also continue with your studies to become a fully qualified chartered accountant, without going to university.
