Commis Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship - Horse & Jockey Inn

While working at The Horse & Jockey you will be working as a commis chef and working towards gaining your Level 2 commis chef apprenticeship qualification delivered by HIT Training.

Your day to day duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Food preparation
  • Starting with cold food preparation / desserts moving on to more complex areas of the kitchen
  • Learning to cook all dishes on the menu
  • Basic food health & safety
  • Plating up dishes
  • Stock rotation

Our summer shift pattern is a mixture of the following: 10am-6pm straight shift, 10am-3pm/6pm-9pm same day split shift, 12 midday – 9pm straight shift, weekends included as per rota.

Training to be provided

You will be assigned a workplace mentor and a dedicated personal tutor from HIT Training who will provide you with the relevant training to teach you a variety of key skills and knowledge to aid you with the active completion of your apprenticeship coursework and modules.

There are no industry specific qualifications required for this role prior to starting the apprenticeship course.

About Horse & Jockey Inn

The Horse and Jockey is the only pub situated on the Rutland Water Cycle path.

You will find us located in the lovely village of Manton on the south shore of Rutland water directly between Oakham and Uppingham. The pub prides itself on offering a varied menu including our signature Homemade Steak and Ale pie, award winning steaks and timeless classics such as Fish and Chips. We have an extensive Specials Board and a wide range of local ales. We offer bike racks and maintenance equipment (puncture repair etc) for our customers and we also have a campsite suitable for caravans or motor homes.
