Paralegal – Medical Negligence Level 3 Apprenticeship

Start Date: September 2020
Salary: £17,017

Your main responsibilities within the department will include the following:

  • Assisting other members of the Manchester medical negligence team with their client work including the inception, progress and closing of client files
  • Communicating (written and oral) with internal and external clients
  • Establishing and maintaining effective and professional relations with others (internal and external)
  • Assisting with new business enquiries
  • Taking and preparing handwritten notes and preparing typed file notes
  • Drafting letters and emails
  • Drafting Legal/Court standard forms
  • Reviewing documents
  • Carrying out research
  • Keeping others informed of progress
  • Paying excellent attention to detail
  • Maintaining excellent file management practices
  • Handling and managing confidential and sensitive information, medical records in particular
  • Understanding and being able to use basic financial information including time recording and billing processes

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Proficient in IT packages including Microsoft Word, Office and Excel
  • Professional telephone manner

Desired qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grades 4 to 9 (A to C), including Mathematics and English
  • 3 A levels or equivalent at grade A to C
