Human Resources Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship

For nearly 70 years, AWE has been at the forefront of nuclear research weapons research and development. Contracted to the MOD, we have a critical mission: to provide the warheads for the UK’s ultimate deterrent – Trident. We also use our unique nuclear skills to provide wider UK government with counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction solutions.

The role:

People are at the heart of AWE, HR is a function in AWE, that directly provides services and support to our workforce; that enable people carry out their jobs effectively and make the most of their time at AWE. On the HR Apprenticeship, you will learn about everything from recruitment and selection, employment law and employee relations, learning and development and will have the opportunity to work on HR related projects.

As an apprentice you will initially be based within the onsite training facility, where you will develop your basic knowledge and core skills, before progressing on to the onsite aspect of your training. At this point you will now start to apply and further develop these core skills in a live working environment. You will see how we work closely with the business to create the strategies that find and retain the best people and develop the skills our business needs. You can expect to be doing a variety of activities such as inputting data, liaising with employees and managers by phone & email, attending meetings, updating documents, research to solve business problems and supporting the case management team with administration duties.

In addition to the vocational aspects of your training, we will further your knowledge of business administration through coaching and hands on tasks to support you as you work towards your Human Resources Administration Apprenticeship.

Business Administration may appeal to you if you enjoy:

Level 3 entry requirements:

  • Preferably GCSE in Maths and English at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
  • PC literate
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Health and safety aware
  • Effective at following instructions
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods
  • Passion for your chosen profession (see comparable skills/interests)

Duration of training:

2 years

Successful candidates must be available to attend a full day assessment Centre in February or March and start on the Programme in August 2020.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas – if applicable
