Business Administration Apprentice Samah Rafiq
Why did you start your apprenticeship with Coca-Cola European Partners?
During my last year of college, I started to think about what the next step would be once I had completed my qualification. I was studying Level 3 BTEC Business at college and was working part time as a Supervisor at Sainsbury’s. I knew that I did not want to attend university or stay at Sainsbury’s but was unsure of what career path I wanted to go down and whether to go for an apprenticeship or full-time job. I came across CCEP's apprenticeship schemes online and became interested in the Business Administration role. The job description had stated that there would be 6 months rotations in different departments across the business so I knew that this would be a great opportunity to learn different skills in different departments at CCEP and find out what area of business I enjoy the most. CCEP is also a huge company and is well known throughout the world so to be an Apprentice for such a global company was something I was really interested in.
What has been the most memorable experience of your apprenticeship at Coca-Cola European Partners?
The most memorable experience of my apprenticeship at CCEP has been going to the Houses of Commons during National Apprenticeship Week 2020. I was lucky enough to attend an event celebrating Diversity within apprenticeships. It was definitely an amazing opportunity and was something I was really proud to attend and represent CCEP at such an amazing and historical place!
What activities do you get involved with in your area of work?
My first rotation of my apprenticeship is in the planning department. I ordered materials and had the responsibility to order trays, boards and closures. On a daily basis, I would use a system called SAP. Entering a material number and check when the material is needed, if I need to place an order, I will check to see how much is needed. Once the order has been placed, I print off the confirmation from the supplier and move onto the next material. I am given time to study as part of my job. Fridays are dedicated to course work. My mentor visits from Remit once a month to chat through my progress. Knowing that I’ll achieve a Level 3 qualification in business administration, as well as gain the hands-on experience, is really motivating
What do you love about working here?
I love that everyone I have met at Coca Cola European Partners. They are so welcoming and everyone on site is super friendly. My team is supportive and I know if I ever need help / advise from anyone I can confidently speak to anybody in my department which is a great feeling as everybody wants to see everyone succeed here at CCEP! I also love working in a fast paced environment as it adds excitement to my job role and avoids my job becoming boring.
What advice would you give young people about how to be successful with the application process?
Be yourself and don’t let the nerves get to you. Attending an interview / assessment centre can be quite daunting so it is best to just relax and stay focused during the process. Do some preparation beforehand about the company and your role to show your interest and always ask questions!
If you could only drink one Coca-Cola product for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
Fanta Fruit Twist! I love all of the Coca-Cola products so this was a difficult decision however Fanta Fruit Twist in my opinion is the perfect drink to have; it is so refreshing and full of flavour and is great to drink ice cold in the summer!More Experiences
