  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Junior Financial Analyst. Daily tasks include journaling costs, reconcilliation and accruals. Month end taks include creating reports, analysing costs and variances. Interactions with workforce team, cost centre managers and external contractor agency. Main responsibilities are management of contractor payments and producing monthly reports with commentary.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Development of Excel skills, I have learnt how to use new software include the M&G general ledger 'Sun'. I have learnt how to carry out new tasks and processes specific to the job role. I have access to internal online training specific to the Investment sector, as well as personal development.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The company culture is friendly, collegues are approachable and the team work together to share workload and deadline pressures.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by M&G?
  • Manager appreciates the work I do, she often praises my work and will ensure I receive recognition for work I have completed for others on her behalf.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Training and support has been consistant; the team are always willing to help. Delegation and responsibility have gradually increased.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Mentor has not given me the same information as other apprentices within my company. Initial meet with co-ordinator was not helpful as the information was incorrect.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Training and support has been consistant; the team are always willing to help. I have a mentor to manage my workload from different teams. Regular meeting with manager.

  • Covers all costs!

  • Socials regularly, sports clubs, events and activities to sign up for.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The culture of the company is friendly and approachable which makes a big difference when joining a new company. The staff are very helpful and are understanding of my ability. There are many social activities availiable to join to help to settle into the company.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to M&G?
  • Be confident and don't be afraid to ask questions.
