  • Nursery Assistant Supervising children all day, changing nappies, providing care and teaching, working as a team, providing food and drink, putting them to sleep, Daily interactions: Childrens parents Staff within your room Staff within the building Managers Occasional deliveries/maintanence Ofsted Inspectors Any emergancy team if necessary Daily Interactions externally: Contacting parents by phone Contacting assessor Responsbilities: Giving care and support to children Teaching children Supervising children Keeping them safe Planning for the children and writing reports Projects: Have different projects every month depending on the theme Display boards Paper work, health and saftey checks What do you do everyday: Work 9-6 See my assessor roughly every month Driving lessons

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Gaining experience in working with children (never worked there before) Getting my Childcare Level 2 qualifaction then going on to Level 3 Undertaking a 2-3 year olds training in the next month Fire Hazard and awareness training Manual Handling training Safeguarding training Food hygeine training Looking to take first aid training I've learnt how to communicate better with other children, learnt to have more confidence self, and learnt all about childcare and policies and procedures at my work setting

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my programme and really enjoy work. I work well in a team and communicate extremley well with my management and other staff. My assessor and I will email or text when I do not see her. My setting fully support different cultures and we will celebrate important events of different cultures. We have dual language throughout the whole setting. I am really happy with my course and it met my expectations. I have enjoyed it and looking to finish my course in July and then proceed onto my Level 3.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Bright Horizons Family Solutions?
  • I feel veryl appreciated by my manager. Her and the assistant managers are constantly giving me compliments over how well I have done and how quickly I can pick up things. I have only been working there since July and only young, yet they already believe I will become a Nursery Supervisor. My assessor is always giving me praise and is pleased with how quickly and easily I have got on with it. I have enjoyed having my assessor so much I have asked to continue with her to do my Level 3, which she is very happy to do.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My training was extremley good and the support I got was amazing. I was never criticised and my assessor always commented how good I was doing. We made realistic goals over how much work I could do between each time I saw her. She has never let me down and is good at replying when I have emailed or texted.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I recieve lots of support from my tutor, she is always available and always willing to help me out if I am struggling. She is really kind and so down to earth and I really get on with her. I have really enjoyed having the tutor I have had.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recieve lots of support from my employer. I feel comfortable coming to them if I have any problems or concerns. She is always friendly and asks how I am. She praises me a lot.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I pay £150 rent a month, have a £36 phone bill to pay, and have to pay £10 a month for my bank account. It costs me £180 a month for my travel as I use public transport to get to work. I spend about £50-100 a week for social costs and daily costs. That usually leaves me with about £500

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I have many open days and at christmas there is a staff party. The qualifactions and experience I will gain will help me become a childs holiday rep abroad. I can also go on training programs. I was at college when i wasn't working.

  • Yes

  • Because everyone was really supportive and helped me whenever I had a problem. They are patient and will work at a speed that is suitable to you. you get lots of praise which boosts your confidence.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bright Horizons Family Solutions?
  • To just be yourself at interviews, to co operate and communicate well. To send a CV with all your qualifications and grades on, describing about yourself. Go with a positive attitude.
