  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Building information modeller who will manipulate 3d design software as specified by engineers. On a daily basis I will converse with engineers to make sure their design is correctly put into a three dimensional model as well as making sure that is doesn't clash with any other systems. Some projects can be more demanding than others with engineers wanting a greater deal of detail within their designs

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme offers a great deal to help expand your skills and meet many people from various disciplines and specialities. One of the greatest things about this apprenticeship is the amount of knowledge you gain from colleagues. There will be days where you can get stressed from looming deadlines and some projects may not be as interesting as others.

  • There are some times where I feel being an apprentice limits my interaction and involvement with some projects

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • On the education part of my apprenticeship I feel a major lack of organisation on the part of the college and structure of the course: I feel many of the assignments I get given are not relevant so what I am carrying out at work. This is something I have discussed with my college friends and they feel the same. The organisation of my apprenticeship on the company side is very good. I feel that I am given challenges to test myself in the industry and I feel I am visibly improving my skills.
