  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is in the KYC department of JP Morgan in Bournemouth. This means that on a day-to-day basis I perform "Know Your Customer" reviews on the corporate clients of JP Morgan. It is a compliance based role.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt all about KYC Requirements which is a very desirable skill set to have. I now know about all stages of KYC which are applicable really to all financial institutions, not just JPM. I've also really developed my team skills through working in a close knit environment with my team.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by J.P. Morgan?
  • I feel as valued by JP Morgan as any other employee. If I ever have any concerns then all the managers here are always quick and willing to respond to try and resolve the situation. I perform all of the same duties as people who have worked here for a long time.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • It would be impossible to receive more support. Both the schools team here who run the apprenticeship and the management team in my department at work are both hugely supportive with everything that I do. If ever I needed extra time in order to achieve something my team would help to make that happen and if ever I have any issues regarding anything the schools team are there every step of the way.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary/package in comparison to a lot of apprenticeships is fantastic. It is enough to live on, on a monthly basis and covers rent and food and you still have enough money to partake in leisure activities.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are loads of opporunities outside work be it through taking part in one of the many sports teams or getting involved in many of the charity projects that JP Morgan runs that like to get people involved in. There are also many networking events that run in the evenings after work that can help you with future career progression.

  • 9. Would you recommend J.P. Morgan to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a truly fantastic place to work and everyone around you is so supportive of everything that you are trying to do. You are also treated with the respect you deserve and treated like any other employee. There is also a fantastic ethos to the company and it comes with a great benefits package as well!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to J.P. Morgan?
  • My main advice would be to be yourself. You must remember that they aren't looking for someone who already knows everything and thinks that they are the perfect banker already. They are looking for the person who has the most potential and can achieve the most with what they have.
