  • I currently work in the Due Diligence area of compliance researching high net worth clients across Europe Middle East and Asia.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time at JP Morgan (JPM) I have come into contact with people from across the world and have had to develop my communication skills in order to effectively work in such a divers environment. Coming straight out of school and into a working environment can be challenging at times and being able to manage your time effectively and taking responsibility for your work are just some of the skills required of you in the workplace which I have had to develop during my time at JPM.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying the apprenticeship program here at JPM immensely, the highlight for me is that I am in a role which is suited to my skill set and offers me various opportunities to participate in activities outside of my usual day-to-day work. The working environment and ethos promoted at JPM makes it an enjoyable and very rewarding place to work.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by J.P. Morgan?
  • JPM expect from me the same level of quality as any other employee, apprentices are encouraged and are given the same opportunities to develop themselves with in the bank as any other employee is able to. JPM also actively looks towards its apprentices in order to attend and promote JPM in local schools by attending and organizing careers events. I feel that JP Morgan views me as an asset to the company and offers me ample support in order to help me achieve my potential.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is a clear learning structure set in place by JPM in collaboration with my training provider. This is split into two sections, one focuses on the examination part of the qualification which takes place in the form of internet lectures and face to face revision sessions. The second half asses our competency and understanding in the workplace and also the learnt material in the lectures. Both JPM and the training provider provide assistance and help if you were to fall behind on your learning objectives.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I have regular face to face meetings with my training provider along side my manager to discuss my current progress and what I need to focus on in order to achieve the next set of criteria. My training provider is easily contactable through either a phone call or an email, I fell comfortable to raise any issues with them and have confidence that they will work with me to help resolve any problems/queries I may have.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have many points of contact with in JPM that I can reach out to if at any point I would need support. An example of this would be the buddy and mentor schemes that JPM and the apprenticeship run. When starting the apprenticeship you are paired with another apprentice from the previous cohort. This is an excellent point of contact if you have any general questions about the apprenticeship or work in general. The apprenticeship team is very approachable and helpful if you feel that you require some support. JPM run an informal mentoring program where you can find yourself a suitable experienced employee in the bank that can offer advice and support about your career.

  • I have no trouble meeting any of my living expenses with my current pay.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • As mentioned previously JPM encourages apprentices to attend career and apprenticeship events at local schools. Along side this JP Morgan has a wide variety of employee led initiatives that offer opportunities to engage with fellow colleges outside of work by taking part in community projects for example.

  • Yes

  • JP Morgan is a fast passed and vibrant place to work, with a great people orientated culture which encourages career flexibility and progression with a world wide reach. JP Morgan places its focus on its employees helping them develop and improve, it is a brilliant place for someone to start their professional career with a wide range of opportunities.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to J.P. Morgan?
  • Be sure to have a wide range of work experience that you can draw from. Do your research, you want to have a slight understanding of what JPM does and be intrigued about departments that are right for you. Be confident throughout the interview process and show how interested you are in the apprenticeship.
